Optional Home Learning

At Arahoe, we believe that learning should be fun, engaging, and a natural extension of curiosity beyond the classroom. With this in mind, homework is optional and designed to support a balanced home life for our students and whānau.

This homework will not be checked or marked by classroom teachers. We aim to foster a love for learning without the stress or pressure of formal homework.

We recommend spending 15 minutes a day on a literacy activity (below) and another 15 minutes on a math activity (below). This can make a big difference in building key skills. For literacy, children can read a favourite book, practice spelling words, or write a few sentences about their day, while for math, they might work on basic facts, solve a few problems, or explore engaging math games. Families can use the websites we have provided below for ideas to support quick, daily sessions that are designed to be fun, manageable, and effective. Just a small amount of time each day helps reinforce learning and encourages a positive approach to literacy and math. The websites below are designed to be explored and you will soon learn the activities that work for your child and whānau. Choose one activity from your child's year level in math and one in literacy. Feel free to mix and match activities over the week.
