Ngā Uara | Arahoe School Values

We are proud to introduce you to ngā Uara / the Arahoe School Values. Developed throughout 2024, they continue to evolve as we unpack their meaning and how they are woven into every aspect of school life.

We have chosen to keep all of our values in Te Reo Māori. Due to the layers of meaning in Te Reo there is no single word in English that serves as a direct translation of each value so you'll see a number of English meanings that are associated with each of the kupu Māori (Māori words). Click on any of the values images above to see these meanings as well as the pūrakau/stories and the design elements associated with them. The tohu/graphic on the left of each value shoes how they weave together to form a holistic representation of what is important in our school. Simplified stories and meanings are being developed for different age levels in the school so that all children can access the values. These will be added to this space of the website as they become available.
